Situated in the garden of a large detached property the site benefited from having direct access onto an adjacent cul-de-sac. The owner of the property wanted to downsize to a smaller home as the children were likely to be leaving soon. The original planning application was resisted by local residents but planning permission was granted on a second application for the same scheme. The cul-de-sac had an eclectic mixture of styles and the fairly ‘traditional' design makes a subtle and positive contribution to the street scene.
Having worked with the client again on another project, I am aware that after six years the children were still at home because they liked it so much.
