The old village school house was constructed in the mid-1800s and had been converted to a dwelling a few years prior to our involvement.  The clients' new baby meant additional rooms were required though not at the expense of losing the character of the original building.  The exterior envelope mirrored the existing fabric including the tall glass windows to the Northern elevation; their formal and mannered expression actually disguises a free flowing internal layout.
