We have collaborated with this client on a range of projects since 2005, including the development of office accommodation, enhancements to sorting and logistics operations, improvements to staff canteen facilities, and fire safety upgrades. This particular project involved the construction of a much-needed covered loading bay linking two existing units.

Due to the site’s historical use as a quarry, the ground conditions consisted largely of loose fill material. To provide adequate structural support for the new steel portal frame, Van Elle’s piling division installed 48 no. 300mm diameter piles to depths of approximately 12–14 metres. The completed structure incorporates electrically operated roof glazing, providing both natural daylight and enhanced ventilation to the loading area.
