BUS DEPOT DEVELOPMENT . DE COURCEY TRAVEL, COVENTRY

The site had been in use for many years as a bus depot; however, the facilities had become dated and no longer met contemporary operational standards. The existing buildings were arranged in an ad hoc configuration, resulting in inefficient use of space and suboptimal operational practices across the site.

The brief required the consolidation of all accommodation, including vehicle maintenance functions, into a single purpose-built facility. Following the demolition of the existing structures, the revised layout would deliver significantly improved coach and vehicle parking provision.

We undertook a comprehensive assessment of the existing site conditions and vehicle movements. A range of development scenarios was prepared, incorporating the requirements of constructing the new building while minimising disruption to the client’s ongoing operations, which would continue throughout the construction period.

The proposed building will accommodate a range of facilities, including administrative offices for all staff, a workshop with associated storage for mechanical and body repair components, meeting rooms, a boardroom, visitor reception, staff rest areas, and a fitness room specifically requested by the client for use by personnel.

Supporting studies prepared in connection with the planning application included assessments relating to construction near aerodromes, flood risk, parking provision, planning policy, and design and access considerations.

Unfortunately, the travel company ceased trading during Covid, however, the building has since been acquired by Dixon International Logistics.
