PROPOSED EXTENSION . NUNEATON SELF STORAGE, NUNEATON
The existing two-storey storage facility, located on a local industrial estate, had exceeded its operational capacity due to increasing demand and popularity. In response to the shortage of space, shipping containers—more commonly associated with rail or maritime transport—had been installed within the car park to provide additional storage accommodation. However, these temporary measures proved unsuitable in terms of accessibility, safety, and operational efficiency.
The design brief called for the creation of additional storage capacity through the construction of a five-storey extension positioned in front of the existing building. The scheme incorporated flexible, demountable partition systems to allow the internal layout to be adapted to evolving customer requirements. The proposals also included a new reception area and company offices, a spacious customer service and sorting facility, and two large lifting platforms situated adjacent to a covered loading bay to improve logistics and operational functionality.
