EXTENSION . QUINTON PARK BAPTIST CHURCH & NEW MEDICAL CENTRE, COVENTRY

The land adjacent to the church formerly accommodated a pre-school nursery, which closed due to the condition of the building and the requirement of a complete electrical rewire. A nearby medical practice was seeking new premises and subsequently agreed to merge with another practice to establish a new, larger health centre. The acquisition of the site enabled the church to demolish outdated timber-framed annexes to the rear and proceed with the construction of an extension comprising a new hall, kitchen, and office accommodation. During the design process, a further extension to the front of the church was also proposed.

Following the demolition of the nursery building, complex sewer diversion works were undertaken to maximise the developable area for the new building. The two storey medical centre includes a pharmacy, spaces for alternative therapies and dentistry, forming a comprehensive “one-stop” healthcare facility. Shared car parking has provided complementary patterns of use due to their different operating times, serving both the church and medical centre.
