CHARTERED ARCHITECT . CHARTERED ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
EXTENSION & ALTERATIONS . SHILONITE GOSPEL CHURCH, AUDLEY
The proposal sought to create a safe and supportive environment for young people, providing a dedicated space for the development of activities and opportunities. The planning application comprised a modest side extension to the Shilonite Gospel Church of Cherubim and Seraphim on Audley Road, Birmingham, to accommodate The Shard End Youth Inclusion Project. This charitable organisation already operated within the local area and benefited from the support of the local community. The church, originally constructed circa 1938 and formerly known as St Andrew’s, is situated within an established residential neighbourhood characterised primarily by interwar and post-war housing.
The proposed extension, together with associated refurbishment works, would provide shared facilities including an activity room, an enlarged kitchen and additional toilet accommodation. These improvements would also enhance the facilities available to worshippers, offering greater suitability for hosting church events and community functions. The local council supporting this initiative and granted planning permission for this project.
