Feasibility studies were undertaken to explore the potential for a retired couple to downsize from their existing home into a more manageable single-storey dwelling. The proposal focused on the development of a new three-bedroom bungalow designed to provide comfortable living accommodation. Key features of the scheme are a generous kitchen and dining space and underfloor heating to enhance thermal comfort. Particular attention was given to addressing challenging ground conditions on the site, which were successfully overcome through appropriate design and construction solutions, enabling the delivery of a robust and well-considered dwelling tailored to the clients’ needs.
