PORCH DEVELOPMENT . ASTLEY

The development of the new porch was conceived not only as a practical response to the need for improved protection from the weather and draughts, but also as an important transitional space between the home and its rural surroundings. Designed to provide a welcoming and functional entrance, the porch creates an area where coats, caps, and 'wellies' can be comfortably stored and put on before heading outdoors, whether for daily activities or taking the dog for a walk. Particular attention has been given to the detailing and materials, with herringbone brickwork introducing texture and craftsmanship, complemented by an oak timber frame that adds warmth, character, and a sense of permanence. Together, these elements create a porch that is both highly practical and sympathetic to the architectural character of the property.
